VOLUNTEER
Our choices in how we use our time reflect what priorities we are prepared to invest in. Volunteer with other Kansas Citians united for educational achievement and demonstrate your investment in our youth and community.
Election Day
- April 8: Poll workers will be needed -- two people at each polling station. Sign up for all day or early morning and late afternoon. It is essential that we man the polling places since many people may not even know that the school board race is on the ballot. The incumbent's name WILL APPEAR on the ballot and four write-in's have joined the field. This remains a contested race. For further information, contact our Campaign Manager, Robyne Turner - robyne@kcu4ea.org.
- April 8: Runners will be needed to deliver materials, food and beverages to volunteers. Phones will need to be monitored to answer field questions and address issues that arise. For further information, contact our Campaign Manager, Robyne Turner - robyne@kcu4ea.org.
Campaign Literature Drops
- April 5,6: Select 2 hour or 5 hour shifts on Saturday, and/or 4 hour shifts on Sunday. You will volunteer in teams of two to distribute literature to all residences within a certain area. We will rally each morning, form teams, make assignments and fan out. Lunch and snacks are provided.
Volunteers are needed to be drivers for the teams, coordinate food and water, and to go door to door. This is not a canvass of voters, just a literature drop off.
For further information, contact our Canvassing Organizer, Susie Jackson - susie@kcu4ea.org.
Phone Bank
- March 31 through April 4, 6pm-9pm: Phone Bank calling. We will gather (place TBD) to make phone calls to prospective voters. For further information, contact our Campaign Manager, Robyne Turner - robyne@kcu4ea.org.
Create a Conversation
- Community Conversations - As the KCMO school district transitions back to neighborhood schools, creating conversations in our communities about education is more important than ever. To get the conversation started, contact the Community Conversations Organizer, Alicia Douglas - alicia@kcu4ea.org.
- Home Conversations - Many Kansas Citians have brought the vision of transforming our schools home by hosting a home conversation about education. If you would like to invite your friends and colleagues to your home for a conversation with airick leonard west to discuss the school board, district, schools, public education, curriculum and more, contact the Home Conversations Organizer, Karen Clawson - karen@kcu4ea.org.
- Online Conversations - With our busy lives, focusing on priorities can be difficult. But the conversation must go on. KCU4EA is organizing online conversations with airick leonard west and regional education experts to discuss issues critical to the success of our district.
